DDC week 11 -- breakfast
Pretty quick and simple this week, hardly making up for my skipping last week. This week I made a frittata with fried potatoes that was super simple but tasty (both eggs and potatoes from our CSA — the potatoes were pink inside!). On the side were homemade/homegrown bread and butter pickles (my absolute favorite) some toast with homemade apple jelly (oh if only I had an apple tree), and...
DDC week 9 -- unphotogenic. and late. again.
I’ve really been a slacker lately and for no good reason.
This week we had a pasta dish strongly interpreted from this month’s Bon Apetit issue. All the veggies (a parsnip, some tiny turnips, a half a squash, a red onion) came from our winter CSA share, the pasta (which was fresh/frozen linguine) was local but I don’t recall where from (a whole foods local provider) (that feels...

In the student center thing in school there were sometimes some tables set up. they were usually thinly disguised head-shop type operations. usually selling jewelry from south america, often made from sculpy clay, probably featuring sarongs on one side. one time there was a sweater dealer. he had wool sweaters with grateful dead bears on them and regular ol fair isle sweaters. they were so ...

ddc week 8 -- a wee bit late.
Aside of the fact that this is monday and my entry should have been written yesterday — (I was having a knitting emergency).
This week I shared our local dinner with Sam my csa-share-splitter. In our winter share we get meat and dairy too! Which is very exciting. Except for the part where — well, ever tried to divide a frozen chicken in half? right, so we cooked it together and...

DDC week 6 and 7 --
As suspected, I totally flaked on last week. We were out of town and generally letting other people feed us, but I’m making up for it this week I hope.
two totally local dinners and a semi local breakfast seems like a pretty good start to 2009 to me.
we had turkey burgers with sweet potatoes and kale. The meat and potatoes came from our csa and the kale came from a generous garden...
